Is that really Microsoft?

We’ve written about this before, but She’s Wired still gets an alarming number of calls about a Phishing attack using the Microsoft brand name. If you get a popup claiming to be from Microsoft and asking you to call a given number: DON’T CALL!

It’s probably a phishing scam.

Additionally, be wary of Google Ads claiming to be a Microsoft support site. Microsoft has only one site:www.microsoft.com. Googling Microsoft could yield unsavory “tech support” that wants exorbitant fees for ongoing help you don’t need. If you need to call Microsoft, start with the REAL Microsoft website or call a TRUSTED tech support company.
